Dorothy "Dot" Ersin

of Harrison, AR

January 1, 1919 - July 11, 2015

Dorothy Deer Ersin went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Hillcrest Home. She is survived by her only child- Lynda Milford of Harrison and 2 grandchildren- David Milford of Augusta, Georgia and Amanda Chitsey of Harrison, Arkansas.

One of the many advantages of living to the grand age of 96 is seeing the broad scale of the way life changes over time. Dot was born in 1919, right before the "roaring twenties" but she also lived through the "Great Depression." In her time she witnessed what it was like to get running water and indoor plumbing and even electricity in her home. She experienced the joy of grand inventions such as washing machines, irons, electric fans on hot Georgia nights, paved roads and refrigerators. More importantly, she was among the few who appreciated what life was like without these things.

Perhaps Dot's greatest contribution in her lifetime was her service to others. Dot was happiest when she was doing good things for other people. She was truly selfless- she found joy in putting others first and making someone else smile. Dot was not just loved by those who knew her; she was loved dearly. A quality that did not come effortlessly like it would appear, but rather a quality that she earned and worked hard to maintain throughout her life.

She was a registered nurse graduating from University Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. She was employed by University Hospital for many years. She was an active member of Warren Baptist Church in Augusta, GA for most of her life.

Among the finer details of Dot's long life, she was born in Augusta, GA on January 4, 1919, to Richard and Mary Lee Kitchens Deer. She was the oldest of their 4 children but she was raised by her beloved Aunt Kathryn Davis. She was married to Captain Hubert Julius Ersin for 23 years. Late in life Dot loved to spend time with her four great grandchildren: Tyler Milford of Evans, Georgia and Ruby Kate, Oliver, and Maximilian Wolfgang Chitsey of Harrison. She is also survived by one sister, Mary Ann Trapani of Dunwoody, GA and several nephews.

Graveside service was Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Harrison.

Lynda, We are so sorry for the loss of your mom and my mom's dear friend. Dot and Alberta shared Warren and loved their class very much. I very much appreciated Dot's words of love sent when mother passed in 2009. Now together again in the presence of God. May God continue to Bless Dot's family. She is free of this earthly restrictions. Hope you find this loving
comfort as I have in the loss of my mother. Brenda

Sorry to hear about Mrs. Ersin's death. She was one of my favorites after I joined Warren Baptist in 1999 - always pleasant, a person of exceptional character and someone to emulate. I missed her after she moved away. Thoughts and prayers to the family in this loss.

I have known "Granny" since I was a bit over 14 and blessed to be called her family for many of those years. Though through legal means we are no longer related, I will always treasure her as a part of my heart and my family. I have so many memories of beach trips, Pizza Hut thin crust pepperoni lovers pizza sharing and evenings watching her favorite television shows. I know that her move to Arkansas was necessary but I have missed seeing her smiling face on many occasions. She was such an awesome example and spiritual guide for me and my family. I could always ask for advice and know that she would be brutally honest no matter what! I know that she is watching us from Heaven and is smiling that we are remembering her so fondly! Her laugh was contagious and her smile infectious and I plan to follow her example of living life to the fullest everyday and to love my family and friends with all my heart but most of all, I will love and follow Jesus so that I will be reunited with Him and my family including GRANNY!
