of Alpena, AR
May 14, 1937 - December 30, 2014
Billie Lee Ogier, of Alpena, accomplished debater, professional tinkerer, and world traveler, passed peacefully from this life on December 30, 2014. He was 77 years young.
Bill was arguing from the moment he was born on May 14, 1937 in Grainton, Nebraska. One of his favorite pastimes was to debate anything and everything with anyone who would listen. He was especially fond of arguing with his great-grandson, Landon Shoemaker, who inherited his great-grandpa's stubbornness.
Bill graduated from Wallace High School in Wallace, Nebraska in 1954. He met the love of his life, Marilyn Wood, there and married her on August 9, 1958. They shared 56 wonderful years together and made too many memories to count. After moving to Arkansas in 1970, Bill and Marilyn started dairy farming. He, Marilyn, and the kids were honored as Boone County Farm Family of the Year in 1979. Bill also worked for Tyson in Green Forest, Arkansas as a maintenance supervisor for a number of years.
Bill left behind three children: Mark Ogier, Tim (Sheila) Ogier, and Janet (Gary) Wilcox, all of Alpena. They are a wild bunch, but Bill always kept them in line with the use of his infamous ''high eye.'' You knew you were in trouble when he raised an eyebrow at you.
Bill had many women in his life that loved him. Along with Marilyn, Janet, and Sheila, his mother-in-law, Gladys Wood of Sutherland, Nebraska, counted him as a son. His four granddaughters also showered him with love and affection. Kala (Tim) Shoemaker of Ozark, MO, Lisa (Brett) Moore of Cave Springs, AR, Julie (Aaron) Kelkhoff of Salt Lake City, UT, and Leya Ogier of Alpena will always remember the extreme pride their Grandpa had in them. His first great-granddaughter, to be born in March, will hear many stories about Bill from her mother, Lisa.
Bill could fix anything that was broken, and always took pride in building things for other people. Whether it was custom welding an item for a neighbor, or designing equipment for his granddaughters' science fair projects, you could count on Bill to do the job. He was well-known for the two cylinder John Deere tractors he restored, and he was a proud member of the Rusty Wheels Old Engine Club.
Bill was an accomplished traveler who visited many destinations in the US and abroad. His favorite trips were multiple cruises to Alaska, a memorable 50th anniversary cruise with the whole family, and a Florida beach vacation with Janet and her family.
Bill is having quite the reunion party in Heaven. He was met at the pearly gates by his father and mother, James Nicholas and Agnes (Light) Ogier, his beloved son, James Nicholas (Nick) Ogier, three sisters, Ruth Boe, Norma Bomberger, and Anne Harris, one brother, Bob Ogier, three nephews, and many dear friends.
A Rosary was held preceding the Mass.
Mass in loving memory was at Mary Mother of God Catholic Church, Harrison, on Saturday January 3, 2015.
A private family only burial was held at Auman Cemetery in Alpena Arkansas at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Auman Cemetery, c/o Ken Hulsey, 3785 Inman Road, Alpena, AR 72611 or Rusty Wheels Old Engine Club, 5722 Hwy 65 S, Harrison, AR 72601.
Bill you are going to a better place. You were a good man.
I first met Bill on the ranch in Hyannis. Bill had a huge impact on how I would conduct my life from that moment on.

Your family has suffered so much of late. God has told us in His word, He will put no more on us than we can bare. Your faith must be great and no doubt will grow as you rely on Him, draw strength from Him, and accept His comfort, love, grace and mercy that He intends for you through this time of grief and pain.
