Mrs. Iris Fern Villines

Fern Villines, age 86, of Harrison, passed away Friday, August 10, 2012, at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison. She was born June 18, 1926, in Parthenon, Arkansas, the daughter of Charles Dewey and El Nora (Jones) Spencer. Mrs. Villines was preceded in death by her mothers, Nora Spencer and Obie Spencer; her father, Charles Dewey Spencer; her sister, Nora Jean Henderson; her brother, John Duane Spencer; her brother-in-law, Hugh; and her sister-in-law, Louise.

Fern was a charter member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She was a secretary with the University of Arkansas Extension Service for thirty years. Fern married J. D. Villines on November 6, 1948 and spent sixty four wonderful years together. She loved to read, bake, and help others; She was a loving wife, mother, and sister.

Fern Villines is survived by her loving husband, J. D. Villines, of Harrison; her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Larry Mitcham, of Salado, Texas; her sisters, Mildred Rowbotham of Harrison and Charlene Bolinger of West Yellowstone, Montana; her brother, Kenneth Spencer, of St. Charles, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, and other family; and many dear friends.

Visitation and a luncheon was Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Memorial service was Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mark Donald and Rev. Dave Smith officiating.
