Dear Family of Mr. John,

We are saddened by the loss of your beloved husband and daddy. He will be greatly missed by many and Martinville will never be the same!

Please accept our sincerest sympathy and we pray that Yahweh will comfort you during your time of mourning. Indeed, we do "rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep" (Rom. 12:15). We're sending our love and heartfelt compassion to you all.

I'm really sorry I could not make it up to the funeral. I would have enjoyed seeing Mr. John's children, some of my childhood friends from Bible School.

Much love to all,
Steve and Susanne (Shelton) Howe & Jeffrey, our son

I don't think, even if I tried for the rest of my life, be able to explain how fortunate I was to have him as such an important person in my life.
From what I know he's never left anyone angry with him or burned any bridges in his life. If I ever asked him advice on a problem his response was something like "don't worry about it", it took my entire life to realize the simplist answer was also the wisest.
In my opinion, he has a perfect heart. One that was ready to help someone who needed it, one that never got angry or upset, one that didn't think an unloving response was an option. Now I know for certain that he had it right all along.
To me, he was perfect in every way that matters most.

Thank you for setting the example and for always being my favorite. You will always be my voice of reason and forever in my heart. I love you,
Love Ashlei

So sorry to read of the death of another classmate and dear friend. John would always stop to see us when visiting and we had wondered why we had not seen him in a few years. Our heartfelt sympathy for his family. Now all four Dawson boys have gone on and we will miss them.
