Evelyn Levern Newsom, age 70, of Lexa, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at her home. Mrs. Newsom was born October 1, 1947 in Tipton County, Tennessee to the late Arville and Myrtle Mayville. She loved reality television and her two dogs, Buddy and Moose.

She is survived by her husband, Cecil; son, Johnny Steelman; stepson, Jimmy Newsom (Brenda Kay); stepdaughter, Sheila Sellers (Bo); three brothers, Ernest Mayville (Dorthy), Joseph H. Mayville (Eleene) and John Mayville, Sr.; three sisters, Mamie Stites, Lottie Bridges (Billy Joe) and Dian Mathews (Charles; ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.

Mrs. Newsom was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Donna Steelman Rouse; sister, Linda Mayville Simpson; and brother, Sgt. Clarence Harley Mayville.

A service for Evelyn Newsom will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Brother Adam Rowland will officiate.

Pallbearers are Jonathan Steelman, Johnny Ray Steelman, Jr., Hunter Mayville, Shane Donahue, Joey Donahue and Dustin Watkins.

Services will be directed by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, (870) 572-2571.

Lois and I were so sorry to hear of Evelyn’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. God’s word says death is an enemy, and it certainly is. Reading Rev. 21:3, 4 and John 5:25 have always brought us comfort, and hopefully will do the same for you.
