Emma L. Simpson, age 80, of Clarksdale, Mississippi passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Clarksdale. Ms. Simpson was born December 19, 1934 at North Carolina to the late Clyde M. Shew and the late Emma Pennel Shew.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandi Griffith (Phillip) of Clarksdale; stepson, Justin Simpson of Mellwood, Arkansas; stepdaughter, Lennie Simmerman (Ted) of Covington, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Dusty Griffith (LeAnne) and Andrew Griffith (Emily); six step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Kasen Griffith and Lila Griffith; one sister, Lynda Branson (Eddie) of Dixon, Kentucky; three brothers, Russell Shew (Deloris) of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Johnny Shew (Renay) of Wilksbrough, North Carolina and Tommy Shew (Debbie) of North Carolina; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary Wooten; and four brothers, Millard, Ray, Jerry and Homer Shew.

The family would like to give special thanks to Ms. Simpson's family of caregivers at Greenbough Nursing Center in Clarksdale.

A graveside service for Emma Simpson will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Brother Nathan Gorman will officiate.

Memorials may be made to The Parkinson Research Foundation, 5969 Cattleridge Boulevard, Suite 100, Sarasota, Florida 34232.

Service will be directed by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, (870) 572-2571.

We are going to miss our dear Aunt Lou so much. She has always been a big part of my life and family. Always loved to cook and make you feel welcome in her home. I will always have a big place in my heart for her. Loved her so much. she will be missed by all that knew her. RIP my Auntie. Love Gale your Niece
