James B. Slayton, 84, of Marvell, Arkansas passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014 in Helena, Arkansas. Mr. Slayton was born September 13, 1930 at Indian Bay, Arkansas to the late James William and Sarah Matthews Slayton. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a farmer, and a member of Trenton Baptist Church.
Mr. Slayton is survived by his wife, Charlotte Slayton of Marvell; son, Steven Slayton (Kathy) of Milan, Tennessee; daughter, Connie Lavella (Albert) of Lawton, OK.; five grandchildren, Jason Slayton, Heath Short, Jaclyn Cook, James Slayton, and Kaylee Martinez; two step-grandchildren, Adam White and Magan Corbin; two sisters, Gracie Wilson (Harold) of Holly Grove, Arkansas and Mary Ellen Everette of Clarendon, Arkansas. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Susan Slayton; grandson, Charles Slayton; and a brother-in-law, Eldon Everette.
Funeral services for James B. Slayton will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2014 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Brother Mike Shelley will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at Roller-Citizens.
Pallbearers are Scott Short, Mike Crisp, Dale Roland and Neal Moore, Kenneth Wilson and Dennis Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers are Stanley Chastain and Odell Hindsley, Harold Crisp, and Paul Wheeley.

Mom and I have fond memories of Mr James. I remember doing with daddy to get fish from Mr James I would stand amazed watching him cut up the fish. Mrs charlote you are in our prayers and thoughts.
