of Subiaco, AR

April 30, 2018

Michael Louis Frederick, 58, of Scranton, Arkansas passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 in Boston, Massachusetts surrounded by his family. He was born on December 23, 1959 in Paris, Arkansas to his parents, Louis and Mary ''Mag'' (Kirchner) Frederick. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Morrison Bluff and the Knight of Columbus Council 3787.

He was known for his gentle nature and his penchant for comedy; he enjoyed making people laugh more than anything. He was married to his best friend, Paula Weisenfels, for nearly thirty six years. He loved her fiercely and romanced the woman he referred to as his ''sweetheart'' every day. As a father and a grandfather, he was the consummate playmate and jokester, always singing silly songs, playing games, and instigating trouble wherever he could. He owned and operated Mike Frederick's Body Shop and Wrecker Service for twenty seven years, an auto body repair shop that had been in the Frederick family previously. His artistry and talent for auto body repair, especially the restoration of classic cars, was well known around the area and one of his restorations was even published on the cover of the Mustang Times. He was active in his community, and could often be seen doing various good works around the community through his business.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mary ''Mag'' (Kirchner) Frederick; his daughter, Katie Frederick; and two sisters, Wanda Frederick and Susan Frederick.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Frederick of Scranton; his daughters, Kelsi Frederick of Scranton and Nicki Ruopp and husband Marcus of Newton, Massachusetts; his son, Jason Frederick and wife Micah of Scranton; his sisters, Barbara Schluterman and husband Martin of Subiaco and Linda Frederick of Subiaco and five grandchildren, Allie, Jude, Austin, Preslee and Maggie.

A visitation will begin at 7:00 P.M. with a Rosary service starting at 7:45 P.M. on Friday, May 4, 2018 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco with burial to follow in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Morrison Bluff under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris. Online guestbook at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/paris.

Pallbearers will be Steven Schluterman, Cory Schluterman, Brandon Schluterman, Britt Schluterman, Mitch Wewers, Marcus Wewers, William Stehle, Cody Schluterman and Toby Schluterman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Susan Cope, Krystal Schluterman, Shelly Byrd, Heather Schluterman, Lindsey Stehle, Kristen Stehle and Morgan Wewers.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 87, Scranton, Arkansas 72863 or Subiaco Abbey, 405 N. Subiaco Ave., Subiaco, Arkansas 72865.

Paula and Family -
We are all praying for you. Take comfort in knowing that he's in a better place and out of pain. Mike always had a joke to tell us when we met. ALWAYS! I'm sure he's in heaven telling jokes right now! He was a great man and will be missed by all!

Paula and Children:

I am sorry to hear of Mike's passing. No doubt he was a great example of living life to the fullest while enduring the agony of his illness. The words of St. Paul to Timothy are words of comfort and assurance that death is not an end but a beginning of a new and wonderful life: "I have competed well; I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. There awaits for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord will award me on that day, and NOT ONLY TO ME, BUT TO ALL WHO HAVE LONGES FOR HIS APPEARANCE.

Mike was generous to a fault, but isn't that the sign of a great Christian? I will offer a Mass for him and for you. May God give him eternal rest and peace!

Paula and family, my prayers have been with you all during your journey and will continue throughout this difficult time. Mike was an incredibly big hearted, caring man and will greatly be missed by many. He always managed to find a smile and help you out if he could. I know it is hard to realize at the moment, but I hope you all find comfort in the fact that he has finally "reached the top of the mountain" and there is no more pain and suffering, for he is with the Lord! May God comfort and bless you all.

Paula, Nicki, Jason, Kelsi...Kairus and I send our love to you all during this hard time. Nicki told me he was a big Jim Croce fan and we listened to it with him while he was in the ICU. I've never paid attention to the lyrics and after looking them up, Time in a Bottle is his song. Stay strong, stay smiling and don't forget to laugh. Mike would want you to laugh :)

Paula and family, you've been in our prayers everyday for over a 100 days... we continue to lift you up in prayer for strength, comfort, and peace.
You guys are all such special people and we love you so very much. I was thinking back on the last time I visited with Mike and it was when he helped us with mothers car when the Walmart pole attacked her. I was fretting and so upset and he smiled that big smile nodded and started telling a story about another pole attacking a car and how accidents just happen... we all laughed, he helped put things into perspective and after the car was fixed... we received another blessing. In his Mike way he decided to do the work himself to help the cost of repairs. Mike was always doing things like that ... not just for us, but others all through the community... because that's just what Mike did.
That day I remember telling him I would pray for the Lord to heal his body...He thanked me for prayers and appreciated them so much. That day I had no idea what was ahead... and I did pray for his healing. Then at the beginning of the year when he started the treatment we kicked up the prayers as everyone in the community was rallying together for one cause... so our dear friend would be made whole.
My heart has been saddened because it's not how I thought things would turn out and it is not what any of us wanted... but the word says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord! So God did answer... Mike is healed and in a wonderful place with no more sickness, pain, or tears.
We will miss him terribly here...but He will never be forgotten.
We have a promise we will meet again! I plan to see my dear friend again... until then I pray that I would continue to be inspired by Mikes way of life. Giving and loving unconditionally.
His Acts of Kindness are life changing and I know he has helped many and made a huge difference in our community.
We love you all and will continue to pray. ❤️

A favorite prayer of mine from the funeral Mass begins"May the angels lead you into paradise..." Mike is now in paradise. It is the perfect reward for a very good man. I am not family nor am I a close friend but I knew Mike from business dealings and my own experience with cancer. I could not let his passing go by without expressing my sympathy and respect for him.
