What a terrible loss of a husband , father and for me a great friend and coworker. I will always remember the years John and I worked together, fished and camped together and the great conversations we had driving back and forth to work together for so many years. Although our paths separated over the years I feel fortunate now to have been able to visit in Georgia the few times I happened to be in the area. He was a special friend for me and it was always a treat to see him or just talk to him. A straight shooter who usually didn't sugarcoat much so you always knew where he stood on an issue. We had such fun times together!
I can speak for many of us at Nine Mile that we are all surprised and saddened by his passing and wish you all well as you weather such a tragic event and time.
With all our heartfelt sympathy ...
Doug
Sally

Prayers and Sympathy to all of his family...
To the Durkee family, extended relatives and friends. It has been a good time having John as our supervisor. He was filled with a lot of humor, very knowledgeable and his sense of logic on many topics had color all its own. Most recent was a mandated course on trust. When asked, "A mechanic replaces your clutch and hands you back as the customer a box of left over bolts, was trust established and do you feel safe driving it away?" His answer: "If it's covered under warranty I could care less." That was John. Great humor and he'll be missed.
Mrs. Sally we have never met but I worked with John and shared a connex with him for a year. He was a very good supervisor always funny and had a ton of famous as we called " Durkee " quotes such as Work is in the field. We are sorry for your loss and ours he was always a welcomed handful. God Bless You
Sally you and your family are in my prayers. He's with god now
