Dorothy (Dada) L. Collins, 81, a resident of Paris passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016, in Fort Smith.

She was born July 18, 1935, in Paris to the late Dan Henry and Rena (Phillips) Bates. She united with the First Church of God at Gray Rock at an early age. She was educated at Booker T. Washington School in Gray Rock. Dorothy was known as the ''lady with the big voice'', another Mahalia Jackson. She also had a unique flare to make people laugh.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children, Linda Jones, Billie Collins and Charles (Tracy) Collins, all of Paris; a granddaughter, Sondra F. Jones of Paris; two sisters, Margaret Cave and Daisy Ludgood, both of Paris; a brother, Dan Bates and his wife, Denise of St. Louis, Missouri; two aunts, Ann Lewis of Berkeley, California and Margaret Hogue of St. Louis, Missouri; a special cousin, Jeannea Collier of Paris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles (Pete) Collins; two brothers, Leroy and Virgil Ray Bates; a sister, Faye A. Brown and a son-in-law, Leroy Jones.

Dorothy was a faithful member to her church for many years until her health failed. She has touched many and will be truly missed.

The family of Dorothy L. Collins wishes to thank everyone for their acts of kindness during this time of sorrow, for the calls, visits, prayers and floral tributes. All expressions have been comfort and strength to the family. May God bless each of you.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 15, 2016, at the Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris. Burial will follow in Gray Rock Cemetery near Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Dale Graham, Robert Milum, Dennis Brown, James Collier, Freddy Thompson, Stanley Bates, Brent Thompson and Dennis Wayne Brown, Sr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Church of God Building Fund in Gray Rock.
