Thomas Baxter Crawford died September 5, 2016 at the age of 94. He was born in the Corley Community on November 26, 1921. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Preston and Cora Louvisa (Melton) Crawford; his sister, Louana Alice Crawford and his brother Richard Alva Crawford.

He is survived by two cousins, Robert Gerald Melton of Charleston and lla Faye (Melton) Wooten of Paris.

Baxter was a care giver for his mother and worked for the National Forest Service. He was a long time member of First Christian Church in Paris and served many years as Deacon and Elder. He was awarded the honor of Deacon Emeritus by the Church board and congregation.

Baxter spent many hours as a volunteer in the community. He loved to read to residents at the Senior Citizens Center and Paris Nursing Home. He spent several years as Director of Volunteers at the nursing home and received many awards for his service. Project Compassion awards included Volunteer of the year, Golden Harvest Award and the Sister Pierre Award. He also was awarded the Governor's volunteer of the Year Award.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. H.C. Varnadore. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, P.O. Box 369, Paris, AR 72855.

Private Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
