Margaret Ahne, 95, a resident of Scranton passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016, in Scranton.

She was born December 10, 1920, in Jefferson, Texas to the late Benjamin Carl Schmidt Smith and Lena Henrietta (Kaufman) Schmidt. Margaret married Frank Leonard Ahne, Sr. on July 24, 1940, in Scranton. Primarily a homemaker, she later worked as a teller for Logan County Bank and delivered newspapers for the Southwest Times Record. Margaret was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and St. Elizabeth Mother's Society and served on the Logan County Bank Board of Directors. Margaret was interested in cattle farming, reading, fishing, sewing, gardening, and rooting for the Texas Longhorns. She had a special love for raising grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, Frank Leonard Ahne, Sr.; three sons, Victor, Eric and Frank Ahne, Jr.; two daughters-in-law, Carol Sue (Jones) Ahne and Linda Ahne; five brothers: Ben, Carl, Robert, Clem and Edward; three sisters: Pauline, Rose and Clara; a granddaughter, Angela Kaye Ahne and two grandsons, John Barr and George Barr.

Survivors include two sons: Ed Ahne of Scranton, and David (Gayle) Ahne of Sherwood; four daughters: Charlotte Waits of Wichita, Kansas, Mary (Paul) Griesemer of Key Colony, Florida, Margie (Danny) Spillers of Scranton, and Rita Brown of Benton; 30 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.

The rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 17, 2016, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Scranton.

The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 18, 2016, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.

Pallbearer will be Tony, Matt, Chris and Steven Ahne, Kevin Barr, and James Schwartz. Logan County Bank employees will be honorary pallbearers.
