of Scranton, AR
July 4, 1929 - January 20, 2015
Alice Margaret Bauer passed away after a brief illness in the company of loved ones at the family home near Scranton on Tuesday, January 20th, 2015.
She was born in Paris, Arkansas, to her parents Forrest William and Mary Frances (Zeller) Hill on July 4th, I929. Alice graduated from St. Scholastica Academy for girls in Ft. Smith. She met and later married the love of her life, Charles E. Bauer of Scranton on November 17th, 1952. Together they celebrated over 62 years of married life.
Alice had a business background, worked as a bookkeeper, but her last job from which she retired was as office manager at Lady Fair Mills in Ratcliff.
Mom's greatest gifts to us were her welcoming manner, her loyalty to family and friends, her compassionate care giving and the desire to see her children succeed in life.
Besides her husband, Charles, she is survived by two sons and their spouses, David and Susie Bauer and Charles A. and DeDe Bauer, all of Scranton, and by two daughters and their spouses, Susan and Mike Johnson and Phyllis and Larry Croft, all of Scranton, and youngest daughter Marilyn Bauer of Springdale.
Left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren: Brian Bauer, Kent Bauer, Stacy Walker, Corey Bauer, Allison Margaret Spilman, Michael C. Johnson, Kimberly Gilbert, Jennifer Mills, Nathan Bauer, Ruston Bauer, Devan Bauer, Zac Gunter, Morgan Gunter and Jessica Hampton.
She leaves a legacy in her great-grandchildren: Cole Bauer, Jackson Bauer, Haley Walker, Abigail Spilman, Heiden Spilman, Gabriel Johnson, Malachi Mills, Trinity Mills, Mordecai Mills, Destinee Gilbert, Paetyn Bauer, Palmer Bauer, Parker Bauer and Isabella Beeman.
The family will celebrate Alice's life with a private rosary on Wednesday. Public visitation and rosary will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Thursday, January 22nd, 2015 at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be Friday, January 23rd, at 10 a.m. also at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Pall bearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are the granddaughters. Burial will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris. What a treasure Alice was!!! I never met anyone with such a caring soul and ready to help anyone. I got to know her when we worked at Ladyfair. Of course mom and dad always thought she and your dad were great people! Your family is living proof of her giving and caring. Each of you have some of that caring spirit also. I really appreciated her word of wisdom. I love the obituary you have written. It says so much about her love for her family! Prayers for the family.
Our thoughts are prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.
To the Bauer Family
I would like to express my condolences to the entire family. Our hearts are always sadden when we hear about the passing of anyone. Our thoughts and prayers will be with the family. Please take comfort in what God tell us from the scriptures. He tells us that soon He would rove all sickness and death away from the earth.(Revelation 21:3-4) He also states, that even if we should lose a love one in death, He has the power to rescue and restore life back to our love ones.(John 5:28-29) In clear terms, He is telling you that Alice wil live again. There are nine accounts in the bible that speaks about the resurrection hope. Why not allow these accounts to strengthen your faith in trust in thess personal promises of God.
May God keep you safe in his arms. From the May family and your friend Lulu.
