He was one of the best men in my life. His love for God and country was so strong. He lived his life with honor and dignity. He and my Dad were very close and very similar in their love of the service they gave for our country. My brothers also served our country, one in Vietnam . He once told me on his worst days while over there he would remember the stories told about Uncle Olan had been injured and captured in WWII and he would tell himself if Uncle Olan could make it home so could he. This is just one of many stories we heard about hero Uncle. The one subject I never heard from Uncle Olan was about his service to our great nation. The one thing he did say was he was ready to go be with the love of his life. Thankful he is with her now. Old soldiers never die...they just fade away, but my heart will never forget his sweet voice, kind eyes and how much I love him.
My prayers are with the family at this time of loss. I know I'm sure going to miss Uncle Olan. When I was younger, he had this thing he would do to others called a "yankee dime." He would always get me with those when I was a little girl. I love you Uncle Olan and sure going to miss you. Go fly high and strong with the rest of the family up in Heaven.
To the family of Uncle Olan, we send our heartfelt condolences. Uncle Olan was a good man. May god be with you all in this difficult time. Sorry we could not make the funeral.
Our thiughs are with you at this difficuklt time. We have many good memories if Olan & Irene through our camping years with the Arkansas Diamonds. Ed & Marilyn Schick
