Deon Lane (D.L.) Kessinger, 88, of North Little Rock, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. He was born in Quitman to the late Forest F. and Mattye Z. (Daves) Kessinger. Deon is also preceded in death by a brother, James Nordin Kessinger.

Deon, a SSgt. in the Air Force, served in the Korean War, and after being discharged, served in the Army National Guard. Following his military discharge, he served as a Trooper with the Arkansas State Police and eventually retired from the Veterans Administration as a Field Investigator. He was a Methodist.

Deon enjoyed family, carpentry, and the mechanical repair of almost everything. He took exceptional pride and enjoyment with his four grandsons.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Jane (Smith); one son, Forest and his wife Terry Kessinger; and one daughter, Kristi and her husband Walt Cooper of Kansas City, Kansas. Deon is also survived by four grandsons: Matthew (Alyssa), Steven (Erika), and Daniel Cooper of Kansas City and Bradley Cooper of Bentonville. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service to celebrate Deon's life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd, North Little Rock, AR 72116.

So sorry about Deon! He was a very close friend when we were growing up in Quitman
