Harold ''Bill'' Pounders, 89, of North Little Rock, died Friday, September 8, 2017. He was born in Cato, Arkansas to William and Alpha Lewis Pounders on December 20, 1927. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Pounders; and four siblings.

Bill was a World War II veteran and was the youngest soldier in the South Pacific at age 15. He was wounded at age 17 earning a Purple Heart and was involved in two atomic bomb testings. Bill retired from the Army, after 30 years of service. Bill Also served 20 years as a deputy on the Pulaski County Sheriff Department.

Bill is survived by his wife of 70 years, Barbara Bentley Pounders; son, Bentley Pounders (Liz) of Sherwood; two daughters, Jean Ann Tallent of Bryant; Jo Chagnon of North Little Rock; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Graveside Service will be held at Noon, Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, AR 72116 501-791-7400.
