December 18, 1931 - June 3, 2017
Gayland C. King, 85 of Cabot, Arkansas, departed this life on June 3, 2017. He was born on December 18, 1931 in Caraway, Arkansas.
He was a graduate of Lepanto High School and a proud supporter of East Poinsett County Warriors. Gayland was the owner of Riverside Box Supply & Kings Mini Storage in Little Rock since 1968. In 1990, Gayland and his wife moved to West Memphis, Arkansas to expand Riverside Box to Memphis, Tennessee. They were active members of Marion Church of God. In 2016 due to failing health they moved to Cabot, Arkansas to be closer to family. He was a great husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, but more importantly he was a Christian man always giving thanks to the Lord for his many blessings. Gaylands work ethic was that of no other. He strongly believed that there was no substitute for a good hard day's work.
Gayland is survived by his loving wife, of 64 years, Helen (Miles) King; two sons, John King of Haleyville, Alabama, Kenneth King (Debbie) of Cabot, Arkansas; two brothers, Ray King (Barbara), Dennis Beebe both of Benton Arkansas; one sister, Crystal Anstett (Doug) of Peoria, Arizona; one grandson, Clint King; three granddaughters, Kristen Crabb, Whitney Tappan, Channing Emerson; four great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Gayland is preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley King and Lacie Ann (Wadley) Beebe.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggest, memorials be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital Foundation, PO Box 2222, Little Rock, Arkansas 72203.
Celebration of life services will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service with burial to follow at Potter Memorial Cemetery in Lepanto, Arkansas.
Gayland King was the first entrepreneur that I knew as a young man growing up in Little Rock. I was privileged to have worked for him during the summers when school was out. He was an outstanding role modell! He encouraged and supported many through his Christian Faith, Work Ethic, and love for Athletics. There was not a better human being on this planet. I will never forget him. I had hoped to grow up and be just like Gayland. Although I have failed so far in that endeavor, my life is so much better because I had such a high bar to chin. He lived a good life. RIP Gayland.
Helen, Kenneth, John & Family,
We are so sorry to hear of Gayland's passing. Gayland was a dear friend to my dad, Jerry Maynard. Life long friends--almost family. We cherish the visits from you guys over the years. Gayland always kept us laughing.

ONE OF THE BEST MOST HONEST MEN WE HAVE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE TO DO BUSINESS WITH. YOU GUYS ARE IN OUR HEARTS, THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.
I am so sorry to read of Gayland's death in the newspaper this morning. My prayers are with the family.
During the early 1980's I ran a homebased hair bow business out of my home. Gayland's boxes made it possible for me to ship orders to over 600 customers in a 10 state area. He always treated me with respect and made me feel like I was one of his most important customers. He had a contagious smile. I was blessed to have known him.
