October 7, 1947 - October 27, 2016
Carol Walls Baker, 69, of Sherwood, died October 27, 2016 peacefully at her home. She was born on October 7, 1947. Raised near Pangburn and later Searcy as the only child of her parents, Dean Wilburn and Ernestine Walls, Carol never lost her love for the country near Searcy.
She earned her degree in education at UCA and after a brief period working in DeWitt, Arkansas, taught and counseled at Sylvan Hills Junior High for the remainder of her more than 30-year career.
After retirement in 2007, Carol enjoyed a variety of interests. She joined the North Pulaski Retired Teachers Association and found much pleasure working on the organization's scholarship committee. She served as a NAEP examiner for two years and more recently worked part-time in retail at the Designer Consignor, making new friends among fellow workers and customers.
Carol is survived by her aunt Wordie Weaver and numerous cousins. She enjoyed the company of a large circle of friends and was always ready to help when needed. Even when dealing with recent health problems, Carol kept a light heart and a sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gum Springs Cemetery Association c/o Ronnie Selvidge at 2240 Gum Springs Road, Searcy, Arkansas 72143.
Graveside service to be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 3, at Gum Springs Cemetery, Searcy, Arkansas. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, AR 72116 (501-791-7400).
