Dorothy "Dot" Helen Heffington

of Little Rock, AR

May 14, 1932 - March 25, 2016

Dorothy Helen Heffington, age 83, died March 25, 2016. Dorothy was born in Republican, Arkansas, May 14, 1932, to Ruby (Mallett) and Virgil Price. Arkansas was always her home, with several years spent in Stuttgart, Arkansas, then moving to North Little Rock where she spent many years as the morning waitress at George's Café in Rose City, North Little Rock. She moved to Warren, Arkansas, with her daughter Rhonda and son-in-law Don where she spent seven years. She was known for her smiling countenance and generosity, and also known to many as she went about her daily routine of walking their dog Ginger up and down and around the streets of Warren every day. She loved her flower garden and always had the prettiest one in the complex. She then moved back to Little Rock and spent many years living in the Albert Pike Hotel and made the Second Baptist Church of downtown, Little Rock, her church of record.

She goes to join her son, Gary Marvin Heffington, and her parents. She was married for twenty-five years to the late Marvin Heffington. She is survived by her three daughters, Rhonda Cronkhite (Don), of Sherwood; Sharon Rettstatt, of Gravel Ridge; and Patricia Williams (Michael) of Hot Springs. She is also survived by her two sisters, Nell Stephens (Michael) in Blevins, Arkansas; and Celestia Price, North Little Rock. She had 6 grandchildren: Andrew Barnhart (Ashley Laraine) of Michigan; Richard Cronkhite of North Little Rock; and Lori Pearson (Katie Buice), Sandee Pearson, and Pascal E. "Pat" Pearson, Jr. (Jessica Mordecai) of Florida; and Dana Williams of England, Arkansas. She had two great grandchildren, Jayden Barnhart and Madison Pearson.

Dorothy was a resident of the Robinson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for over ten years. She loved her jewelry and painted fingernails and playing bingo. She especially enjoyed country music, and you could always find her in the front, clapping and singing and enjoying the singing and guitar playing of Rick Martin (Tragikly White) and Butch Dicus (Elvis). We wish to extend our gratitude and thanks to all the staff members at the Robinson who treated and cared for her like family.

Please join us in saying goodbye to Mama at a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m., at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, AR 501-791-7400, with burial to follow at 1:00 p.m., at Republican Community Cemetery in Greenbrier.

Seems like Aunt Dorothy had a pot of beans cooking every time I visited. The house smelled so good. And, yes, she loved her dangly, sparkly earrings and always had her nails done. So cheerful and gave good bear hugs. I know she and Gary and all the Heffingtons are living it up. Lots of prayers and love!!!

I am so saddened to read of Dorothy's recent death. I would always stop in to see her whenever I'd visit Robinson and each year she's ask me if I brought her a new calendar, which I always did. Her smile and sweet greeting was always a joy. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers during this time.
