Denis Michael Murphy

of North Little Rock, AR

October 11, 1956 - July 16, 2014

Denis Michael Murphy of North Little Rock passed away July 16, 2014 at the age of 57 in his beloved home on wheels, "Free Bird". Suddenly and shockingly he succumbed to complications brought on by pneumonia. Denis was born a navy kid on October 11, 1956 at Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico. He is survived by siblings Bill, Bob, Dee, Maureen, and Patrick; former spouse Sandra, son Denis James, daughter April, and granddaughter London. He is preceded in death by father Denis Joseph, mother Phyliss, and sister Patricia. An informal wake will be held in his honor at Free Bird on Saturday at 2:00 pm at Riverside RV Park (250 S. Locust, North Little Rock AR 72114). A formal memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm at Roller Funeral Homes (5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd, North Little Rock AR 72116).501-791-7400. He was a quiet man, but if he could he would tell you to grieve for him by finding a way to live just exactly the life you want to live, taking an immediate trip somewhere difficult to get to, putting something loud on the radio -- preferably with a good bass line, and having a toast or two in his name.

I worked with Denis at ALLTEL many years ago. Denis had an open heart and was a good man with a quick smile. Condolences to his family.

I toasted Denis with a Yingling in Pensacola Beach last week reflecting on how tenuous our grip is on those close to us.

Can't believe my step brother is gone. He was one of the kindest, gentlest men I knew. He always stuck by me no matter what decisions I choose to make and was always willing to drive hours to help me out when I needed it.
The world is indeed a slightly darker place without him but I'm comforted by the fact that God has him in the palm of his hand and probably enjoying a good guitar solo.

Your loved ones are so sad to see you go but in their hearts they know you're watching over them still and and flying 'freebird' on Angels wings now. RIP Denis.

We spent many happy times with Denis discussing all sorts over a drink or two. We were hoping to do the same again this November when we are next over but alas that wasn't to be. When my Mum married Denis's dad we didn't know what our "new family" was going to be like but we sure struck gold with Denis. Until we meet again bro save one for us xxx

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I worked with Denis at Alltel/VZW and he was very helpful to train me. He spoke often of his son, daughter and granddaughter. He loved his RV and friends stopping by for fireworks and etc.
