of Cabot, AR

January 13, 1920 - March 25, 2014

Opal Baker Davis of Mountain Home died at Baptist Hospital in North Little Rock, Tuesday, March 25, 2014. She was the daughter of John Emery and Maude Anson Baker. She was born January 13, 1920 in Lake View, IA. Opal grew up in Arkansas and Oklahoma. She married Leo T. C. Davis in Fulton County July 16, 1939 where he was teaching school. Opal followed Leo to San Diego when he entered the U. S. Navy and returned to Arkansas when he went aboard his ship. After the war she adapted to the ''Veterans Village'' on the University of Arkansas campus while Leo finished his degree on the GI Bill. They began a long career in education in Salem, then Cotter and finally, Mountain Home. Opal taught six grades of students in the Pilgrims Rest Wing school for two years and finished her career in administrative positions, such as school finances.
Opal always like to read, subscribing to daily newspapers and news magazines. She enjoyed tackling the Sunday cross-word puzzles and passed these interests along to her children. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leo; six sisters, and two brothers.
She is survived by her son, Leo Carson Davis (Elizabeth Ann) of Magnolia; daughter, Carol Clark; grandson, Brian Knowles (Brandi) and three great-granddaughters, Brooke, Bayli and Bethany all of Cabot.
Graveside service 9 a.m., Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Mountain Home Cemetery, Mountain Home Cemetery.
