Uncle Gene--My father dearly loved you. Since he passed away in June 2006(Arthur Turney) we keep in touch until 2010. Uncle Gene was the baby brother to my grandma--Grace Hull Turney. I have many pictures of Uncle Gene when he was a child. and his books he had published about TRAINS.
You will be missed but Heaven is a very good place to see everyone.
Gene contributed a great deal to understanding the history of our state. Additionaly, I don't know anyone who was more honorable, friendly, and generous. My condolences to Gene's family and friends.
So much knowledge gone from us. Gene taught us so much.
I am truly sorry to learn of Gene's death, He and my husband, Richard, were very good friends in the RR clubs. They visited by phone many times after we moved to Durango, CO. and I spoke with him after my husband's death in 2007. He was a gentlemen and a scholar about all railroadiana. He will be missed.
We will miss Gene, his enthusiasm for talking about Colorado railroading, and his memories of working as a brakeman during WW II. He helped to awaken a passion for railroading and railroad history in many people, as well as being a good friend. Clear board.... Highball!
