Mary Ann Bowers
Mary Ann Bowers
May 20, 1940 - September 29, 2009

Our Heavenly Father has called home our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Mary Ann Bowers. Mary was born to Opal and Edward Ford on May 20, 1940, in North Little Rock.

Mary, a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, attended Mount St. Mary Academy in Little Rock. Her greatest joys in life were her roles as dedicated wife and loving mother. She loved being at Jerry’s side and attending his functions with the Arkansas Air National Guard. She was a member of the North Little Rock Elk’s Lodge Elkettes. She and Jerry enjoyed traveling across the country to attend the Elk’s national conventions and grand balls. Mary was a member of St. Patrick’s Holy Name Society and dedicated much time to the church and the school. She also took an active role in her children’s education, volunteering as a room mom, organizing field trips, and volunteering with fund raising efforts.

Although Mary dedicated much of her time to her family and friends, she found time to enjoy life’s pleasures. She was an avid gardener, and was particularly proud of the beautiful roses she grew each year. She loved to travel and her all time favorite destination was Hawaii. Mary was also a die hard Arkansas Razorbacks fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Frances Heard, her brother Edward Ford, a son Edward, a daughter Karen Sue, her granddaughter Madeline Grace Lee, and her beloved Shih Tzu, Angel.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of fifty-four years, Colonel (Ret.) Jerry Bowers, children Jerrie and Alex Williams, Sandra Davis, Jimmy Davis, and Tina and Jason Lee. Also surviving her are her grandchildren, Karen and Mike Ricardo, Alex Williams, Kayla and Ron Pray, Jeffrey, Matthew, and Brandon Davis, and Alden and Harper Lee, and her newborn great-grandsons Mason and Landon Pray, as well as her sweet kitty, Maybelle. Also surviving Mary is her sister-in-law Carolyn Ford and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family extends much gratitude to Dr.; Gary Collins, and his nurse and our dear friends, Ashlee Stephens, as well as Doctors Mike Bauer, John Dietrich, Joe Pevahouse, and Jay Holland for the care they gave Mary. We also appreciate the wonderful nurses in CVSU at St. Vincent’s Infirmary and CCU at Baptist Medical Center, who were so kind to Mary.

Visitation will be held at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd. on Thursday from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. October 1, 2009.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 2, at 10:00 a.m., St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 211 West 19th St., North Little Rock. Interment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
Mary will be remembered for many things but her kindness and compassion stand out above all the rest. She supported many worthy causes, so the family asks that you consider a donation in her honor to either CARE, P.O. Box 7604, Little Rock, AR 72217, or to the Pulaski County Humane Society at 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, AR 72210, in lieu of flowers.
