October 11, 1927 - January 25, 2016

Merlene Smith, 88, of Tyronza, AR died Monday, January 25, 2016. Merlene was a bookkeeper for many years and was a lifelong member of the Tyronza Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ottie Smith; her parents: George W. Fisher and Fielda Jane Austin Fisher; as well as 4 brothers: Wilburn Fisher, Loyal Fisher, Hershel Fisher and Eugene Fisher.

Survivors include her daughter, Janie Lawson (Bill) of North Little Rock, AR; 3 grandchildren: Brian Lawson (Kathleen) and Ben Lawson (Amie) both of North Little Rock, AR; and Dr. Brad Lawson (Jordan) of Little Rock, AR; 5 great-grandchildren: Parker Lawson, Peyton Lawson, Madelyn Lawson, Hudson Lawson and Eva Jean Lawson; as well as many other loved ones.

Visitation will be held at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis, AR on Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 PM.

The funeral service will be held at The First Baptist Church in Tyronza, AR on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 10:00 AM.

The interment will take place at Tyronza Cemetery in Tyronza, AR.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the Arkansas Children's Hospital.

May God be with your family hold you up with Loving memories !! So glad had the many years to know and Love her and I will miss her !! We had good times with "Elvis" and Lisa always make her smile but her help with your boys was endless she loved you all so much !!! Be Blessed your strength comes from our Lord! Your SISTER!

Dear Janie. I am so truly sorry about your mom. I didn't know her too long. But the time that I did have privileged to know her I loved her so much. And I loved making her laugh. She was a special lady. She is with God now walking in Heavenly peace and singing with angels. And one day we will have an amazing glorious reunion with her. Love you Billy and janie. And I will be praying for all yall!!
