Helen Ruth Weisburd

Helen Ruth Waller Weisburd died on April 8, 2012 at Crittenden Regional Hospital. She was born in Memphis on May 31, 1919; graduated from Humes High School; and attended West Tennessee State Teachers College, now known as the University of Memphis. She married Everard Weisburd in 1943 and designed the house in West Memphis that they occupied for most of their 65 year marriage. Mr. Weisburd died in 2008.
Mr. and Mrs. Weisburd shared a keen interest in art, collecting mainly contemporary work. During their long lives together, their travels were planned for two shared pleasures; visiting family and visiting art museums. At home, Mrs. Weisburd devoted decades to successfully achieve a mature and balanced garden.
Mrs. Weisburd’s survivors are profoundly grateful for her exemplary life and her unceasing love: her son, Mark Weisburd and daughter in law, Martha Petty of Chapel Hill, NC; her daughter, Mary Jane Potash and her son in law David Volsky of Scarsdale, NY; her nephews, A.W. Karchmer and Richard Karchmer; and her four grandnieces and four grandnephews.
Graveside services will be held at the Temple Israel Cemetery on Wednesday, April 11th at 2:00 P.M.
