Evelyn May Sexton

of Las Vegas, NV

May 9, 1924 - September 9, 2018

Today our Beautiful Mother began her "forever" life. Evelyn May (Smith) Sexton, 94, born in Malvern Arkansas, walked into the arms of her Heavenly Father on September 9, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Delmar Sexton; son, Bruce Sexton; grandsons, Bruce Sexton, Jr. and Gregory Wyckoff; sons-in-law, George R. Wyckoff and Curtis Weatherred; and great-granddaughter, Katie Evelyn Colbert.

Evelyn and Delmar had 7 children, 19 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 27 great-great grandchildren. She was an advocate for all children. Evelyn received her Child Development certification in San Diego and was employed in child care until she retired, in Arkansas, at the age of 88. She received her GED when she was 77 years of age. She was so proud and excited to show her children that she could do it. Evelyn moved to Nevada in 2011, to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

She is survived by son, David Sexton of California; daughters, Patricia Wyckoff, and Linda Lindgren (Bob) also of California, Carolyn Huhn (Bill) of Nevada, Diana Rinner (Owen) and Michele Cowan of Arkansas; and many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy, Arkansas. Memorial service will be 5:00 p.m Sunday, September 16, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Searcy Ward.

We are grateful to Clarice and Shelle for lovingly tending to her needs and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Las Vegas Carl Ward for loving her almost as much as her family does. We appreciate VIP Primary In Home Care and Nathan Adelson Hospice Care. She is rejoicing with the saints of heaven this day.

I had the pleasure of knowing Evelyn from 1960 when I started dating her daughter Carolyn. It has been the last 7 or 8 years that stand out, because we were privileged to be able to have her live with us. I cannot tell you what a joy it was those last few years. I will forever cherish them.
REST IN PEACE MOM .
