Lela Jane McGarrity, 89, of Osceola, AR passed away July 9, 2018. She was born June 29, 1929 in Emmet, AR to Frank and Mary Elizabeth Chism. She was retired from the US Postal Service where she worked at Osceola and Luxora. She was a member of Luxora Assembly of God. Survivors include her husband of 70 years: James McGarrity; daughter: Judy Throgmartin of Hot Springs, AR; grandchildren: Jayke Throgmartin and Blake Throgmartin, both of Hot Springs, AR; great grandchildren: Ethan, Laynee, Noah and Bailey; sisters: Vivian Watkins of Benton, KY, Charlene Tedford of Cleveland, MS, Vera Jackson of Osceola, AR, Adell Gresham of Loganville, GA, Clair Howard of Benton, KY and Dorothy Light of Oklahoma City, OK; and brother: Clyde Chism of Benton, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Alene Hicks, Mary Sporleder and Elizabeth Pitts; brothers: Lee Chism, Jr, Charles Chism, Billy Chism and John Chism; and son-in-law: Charles Throgmartin.

So sorry to hear of Lela's passing. When she worked in the post office at Luxora and I would go in and get my mail, she always had a smile on her face and was so nice to me. I have known her and James and Judy ever since I was a kid growing up in Luxora. My deepest sympathy to James and Judy and her entire family and her host of friends. She will truly be missed.
