He worked with Catch a Dream, which allowed him to provide once in a lifetime hunting experiences for children with life threatening illnesses. He also helped organize many hunting trips with the Wounded Warrior Foundation, which allowed him to meet and hunt with many veterans who incurred a physical or mental injury during military service. He was a devoted deacon and servant of First Baptist Church of Keiser, where his life mission was to bring more people to know Jesus Christ. Garry was in my class at Misco several times during the early
seventies. He was a good student and a fine person. I know
everyone who knew him will miss him.

When i first got the news of Garry's passing, i felt absolutely alone, because i had become not only dependent on hearing his advice, his thoughts on our theology, but also his thoughts on how I should walk daily in pretty much everything. We both shared and did a lot. Garry would always say, " Keep the main thing the main thing"! He was referring to the salvation of others. I learned a tremendous lot of things thru him, i have also realized he was my mentor. I gave his memorial Service at Moody Gardens yesterday in his Honor, and it came off wonderfully. Yep, Garry Joe soled me Saturday, His work was done in me also. I will be traveling to Kieser to go to church this weekend as i had promised him. See you fine folks this weekend, Love you and thank you for sharing this wonderful man!

Debbie, we are so sorry for your loss. Garry Joe was an amazing person and filled with the Holy Spirit. It just oozed out of him and he was such a pleasure to be around. It was an instant friendship when we met in Destin, Fl. I am so very thankful to Jesus that we got to know Garry Joe, you, Mrs. Joyce, and of course Big Mike. The world will be a little darker, but Garry Joe is bathing in His Light and Peace! Praise Jesus we know where he is. " Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6.
