Mr. James R. Scrivner died at approximately 11:30am at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles, MO on Tuesday, October 21, 2014.
J. R., as he was affectionately known, was born to the late Henry and Ruby Scrivner, formerly of 700 W. Hale, on March 18, 1927. J. R. graduated from Misco High School in 1945 and was drafted very soon afterwards into the U.S. Army. His last address while in the Army was Camp Hood, Texas. He was eager to get home and resume helping our Father farm in South Mississippi County. After that he owned a grocery store. Then he decided there was a calling to go West, and he went to Arizona where he lived and worked until his return to Osceola in 1998.
J. R. is survived by four sisters: Betty Madey of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Sun City West, AZ, Rosa Lee Young of Platte City, MO, Barbara Opper of San Antonio, Texas and Melba Elvin of Menlo Park, CA; one brother, Anthony of Germantown, TN; twelve nieces and nephews and several grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers: David, Henry, Jr., Douglas and Morris; one infant sister and one niece.
