Muriel Moody Dearien

of Dallas, TX

September 21, 1922 - May 29, 2017

Muriel Moody Dearien, 94, of Dallas, Texas originally of Mountain View, Arkansas passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017 at her home. Muriel was born on September 21, 1922 in Mountain View, Arkansas to the late James Nathan and Eula Mae (Gilstrap) Moody. Muriel graduated from Mountain View High School and was an active member at the First United Methodist Church, Garden Club, and Missionary Society. In 1952, she started a successful insurance company, Dearien Realty and Insurance along with her husband, Astor Dearien. They had their office on main street for over 50 years. Muriel loved to read and had an expansive library of books both at her home in Dallas and her farm house in Mountain View, Arkansas. Her greatest achievement was being a mother to her four children; she was an active member of the Methodist Church where she was involved in the many activities that took place there. She enjoyed being a den leader, homeroom mother, and an active member in the PTA, all while making her children's clothes and maintaining a garden that allowed her to freeze and can food to feed her family. She always welcomed friends and family into their home and had large family dinners. Later in life she traveled the world and collected coffee mugs to add to her collection of mugs and copies of all the diplomas / degrees from all the colleges her children and grandchildren attended. She has a binder about 4 inches thick where they are stored and blank spaces in the back for ''who is next''. Muriel left a lasting impression on everyone that knew her and she will be greatly missed by all of her loving family and friends.

Muriel is survived by her daughters, Virginia Lea Dearien Schmidt and husband Ron of Dallas, Texas, Carolyn Dearien Lovett of Florence, Alabama, and Marilyn Dearien Barton and husband Dave of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Geraldine Moody Rawls of Millington, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Jay Dearien of Moscow, Idaho, Jenny Dearien Novak and husband Jay of Los Angeles, California, Jason Dearien and wife Christy of Moscow, Idaho, Jonathan Schmidt and wife Brandee of Dallas, Texas, Wesley Dearien Schmidt of Dallas, Texas and Nathan Barton and wife Shannon of Manhattan, New York; six great-grandchildren, Hugo Dearien, Cameron Dearien, Eric Dearien, Ben Novak, Rebecca Schmidt, and Ryan Schmidt, along with many extended family and friends.

Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, James Nathan and Eula Mae (Gilstrap) Moody; husband, Astor Dearien; son, John Dearien, sister, Juanita Webb, and brother, Corbin Moody.

Funeral services are Friday, June 2, 2017, 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Mountain View, Arkansas with Rev. Paul Coy officiating. Interment will be at the Historic Cemetery of Mountain View following the service.

Pallbearers are her loving grandchildren, Jay Dearien, Jenny Dearien, Jason Dearien, Jonathan Schmidt, Wesley Dearien Schmidt, and Nathan Barton.

To the Family. SO sorry for your loss. Hope you will be comforted in knowing that Muriel has the prospect of being resurrected (in the flesh) to Paradise Earth as God has promised. The vast majority will have everlasting life here on earth. God's Kingdom will do this under the Rulership of Jesus Christ. READ John 5:28, 29, Job 14:14, 15 and Revelation 21:2-4

I hate to hear this news. Muriel was the hardest working lady I have ever known. She would be at her office late at night and always had a smile on her face. My prayers to her family.
