Roy Lee Tharp, 89, of Woodbine, Iowa passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016. Roy was born on October 12, 1926 to the late John William and Barbara Caroline Tharp in Ponder, Missouri. Roy was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and also worked as a welder and at the Senior Center in Mountain View.

Roy is survived by two daughters, Ginger Tharp of Mountain View, Arkansas and Irma Kerger and husband Lavern of Woodbine, Iowa; one sister, Lois L. Dye of Mountain View, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Renee Kerger, Tony Ray Kerger, Tommy Ray Kerger, and Tammy Jean Kerger; two great-grandchildren, Tara Kerger and Jaden Hackett, along with other extended family members and friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, John William and Barbara Caroline Tharp; fifteen siblings, and his loving wife, Bertha Tharp.

A visitation will take place on Friday, May 13, 2016, 1-2PM at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Mountain View, Arkansas. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 2:00PM with Brother Truman Bullard and Brother Randy Long officiating. Interment will be at Sugar Hill Cemetery in Mountain View, Arkansas.

Pallbearers are Garner Treece, Jerry George, Frank Taylor, Jimmy Engle, Jackie Halpain, and Oliver Halpain.

Honorary pallbearers are Johnny White and Donnie Moore.

Roller Crouch Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ginger & Irma, so sorry to hear about Uncle Roy passing away. My mom & dad were Clida & *Tommy Hubbard( I'm the youngest ). I remember Uncle Roy's funny sense of humor..He was always making jokes & telling funny tales. Please take comfort in knowing you are in my prayers.May God wrap His loving arms around you .
