George Eamol Tomplin Bryant, 92 of Van Buren, Arkansas went home to be with his Lord August 4, 2014. Mr. Bryant was born June 18, 1922 in Depew, Oklahoma to the late Claborne George and Sidna Belle Bryant. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the U. S. Navy in 1958 after 11 years of service and was honorably discharged with a medical disability. He served through WW II and the Korean Conflict and received the Korean Service Medal, U N Service Medal, American Area Medal, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars, Philippines Liberation Ribbon with 2 Stars, Point System Discharge and Good Conduct Ribbon. His first active duty was the Battle of Midway at age 20 aboard the USS Aulick, a Navy Destroyer. Three hundred sailors were assigned to duty aboard the Aulick during WW II. George and 32 other shipmates from the original crew survived together to the end of the war. Mr. Bryant had many jobs throughout his life. He moved his family to Van Buren, Ark in 1967 and was employed with the FAA, Federal Aviation Administration until he retired in 1982. Mr. Bryant accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Flatwoods Missionary Baptist in 1965 where he became a member to serve with family and friends. George was fiercely devoted to family and friends and never knew a stranger. George was always ready to help any one that needed assistance without expecting anything in return. If he borrowed something, his motto was to return it in better condition than when he borrowed it.
Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Mima Rae Bryant, Van Buren, Ark; children Terry Ivy and wife Robin, Wichita Falls, Texas, daughter Theresa and husband David Halliburton, Farmington, Ark.; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one precious niece and 4 valued nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Lina May Bryant, 1916, age 1 and Ruby Bryant Morris, 1999, age 82.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00PM Thursday evening at Roller Crouch funeral home in Mountain View.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday August 8, 2014 at Flatwoods Missionary Baptist in Mountain View, Arkansas with Pastor Joe Morell officiating. Interment will take place following the service at Flatwoods Cemetery.
