Melvin Lawrence WellsI am a Veteran.

of Mountain View, AR

August 21, 1947 - May 13, 2014

Melvin Lawrence Wells passed away May 13, 2014. He succumbed to diabetic complications.
He was born August 21, 1947 in GA. but lived most of his life in Killeen, Texas. He moved to Saint James, AR in the late 1980's. He served in the U.S. Army as a Green Beret in several locations and served three tours of duty in Viet Nam and was a Purple Heart recipient. After leaving the Army he was a carpenter and home builder in Killeen, TX. as well in Mountain View, AR.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sharren McCorcle Wells, a son Jeff McCorcle of Pedernales Falls, TX and a daughter, Karren Wells Wilson and husband Wayne Wilson of Saint James, AR, six grandchildren, Marissa Wells Vannatter and husband Jeff Vannatter of Saint James, AR and Rebecca Jo'Lin Wells of Saint James, AR, Micheala, Sarah, and Tucker Wilson of Winnsboro, LA., and Nikky Foster Cope of Saint James, AR.; three great grandchildren, Alexander Jayden Vannatter, Christopher Xavier Vannatter, and Alexander Scott Cope. Also surviving is his brother-in-law, Robert McCorcle of Georgetown, TX. and a sister Annette Stimmel and husband John of Cleveland, TN, and several nieces and nephews. I would be remiss if I did not mention his dear friend lovingly referred to as his (''Ole' Croney'') Sam Younger and his ''Partner in Mischief'' Gayle Bass of Nolanville, TX.
It was Melvin's wish that no services be held. He wanted to be cremated and his ashes scattered in his beloved White River so he could ''float and fish forever.''

Karen and Sharren & family,
We are so sorry for your loss. Melvin was a true pioneer of our community. He will be greatly missed. When he would just go down the " river road" and come by the house, he would always stop and visit if we were outside. May The Lord bless you and your family through this difficult time.
