Melvin E. Fish

of Mountain View, AR

September 1, 1927 - March 20, 2014

Melvin Earl Fish was born on Sept. 1, 1927 in Oklahoma City, OK. and passed from this life on March 20, 2014 at Indian Rock Village, Fairfield Bay, AR where he was under the care of Arkansas Hospice. His residence was in the Sunnyland community of Mt. View, AR.
After living in Oklahoma City his family moved to Los Angeles, CA. where he graduated from Los Angeles Jr. High School. He completed his High School education and then joined the Merchant Marines until he was honorably discharged. We honor him as a Veteran who served State side at the end of WWII.
Even as Melvin developed his many talents he worked at a variety of different jobs, traveled all over the world, even working abroad a steamer ship from the USA to Japan. He was an accomplished artist, pianist, and photographer. After returning from his world travels Mel became a Certified X-Ray technologist after attending a 2 year training program in California. He worked as an X-Ray/Laboratory technologist at various places in California, in Hawaii and at White River Medical Center in Mt. View, AR.
Mel cared for every member of his family at one time or another. His sincere loving kindness was lavished on all who crossed his path. Everywhere he went he developed such close friendships that they became like family to him. If you knew Melvin you knew you were loved and you knew you were the most special person ever. He was an honest, open book who was never rich, but always had something to give. He extended that love and care to all of his beloved animals, goats, chickens, ducks, dogs, cats and a whole room full of every kind of bird you can think of. Most of all Melvin loved the Lord and he lived his life as a true child of God.
Melvin was never married. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Boyd Fish, Sr., mother, Lillian Burroughs Fish, brother, Robert Boyd Fish Jr., brother, Herbert Duane Fish and sister, Lois Marie Hudson. He is survived by six nieces and four nephews: Rebecca Searcy, Ruth Miller, Joyce Springer, Jo Ellen Rush, and James Rush all of Oklahoma, Renee Sebring, Robert Hudson, Steve Fish and Dan Fish of California and Betty Muire of Mt. View, AR, as well as his first cousin, Herbert Chappory of Oklahoma.

Services will take place on Thursday, March 27, 2014, 2:00PM at Roller Crouch Chapel. Brother Bill Giberson and Pastor Lois Monore are officiating. Uncle Melvin had a way of making each person feel like they were special and truly loved by him. He taught us to sing songs from the movie
'South Pacific' and took us to see
'The King and I'. He took us out in his boat and these are just the things I remember before I was 5yrs old. It was always a special day if
Uncle Melvin was in it, always.
He was a very special person.
I love you, Uncle Melvin.
