Eugenia McGehee

of Choctaw, OK

March 26, 1925 - May 12, 2018

Eugenia McGehee, age 93 of Oklahoma passed from this life on Saturday, May 12th, 2018. She was born in Big Flat, Arkansas on March 26th, 1925 to Thomas Tilley and Dessie Ramsey Tilley. She was sister to four brothers, Hugh, Harry, Kenneth and Harald.

Eugenia lived most of her life on small farms around Big Flat, Arkansas. As a young girl she worked side by side with her mother doing household chores and working in the fields. Eugenia was the first child in her family to graduate from high school. Eugenia's first job was to wash, iron and pack clothing for the CCC boys. She worked for 50 cents a day so she could buy her 10th grade school books. She went on to work at Douglas Aircraft, what is now Tinker AFB. During WWII Eugenia worked on the C-47 Aircraft used by allied forces. As years went by she worked at various jobs such as in bakeries and meat processing. Eugenia retired from Tinker AFB in 1987 as a sheet metal specialist with many awards and honors. Her pride and joy was working on the B-52 and many other military airplanes. After retiring from Tinker she worked as a home caregiver. Eugenia survived a chemical explosion where over 50 percent of her body was burned. She also was a breast cancer survivor. Eugenia had a passion for gardening, quilting, crocheting, knitting and embroidery work. All of her family member's homes are decorated with her loving handiwork. But most of all she loved, loved to fish in the White River with her loved ones. To have lived to the wonderful age of 93, Eugenia witnessed many changes in our country and world; at 8 years old she saw her first car (1933); at age 12 Eugenia got to listen to a radio (battery operated-1937); at age 18 she talked on the telephone for the first time (1943); she saw a brother go to war; in 1947 she saw modern day utilities provided to small Arkansas farmers; she lived to witness the first man on the moon, laptops, cell phones and many other wonders of her time. Eugenia's most precious gift was the love and joy she received from her family. Her family loved her dearly and she will be missed beyond words. God bless you precious lady.

Survivors include three daughters, Sonya Jane Willhite, Linda Mae Bromley and Rogenia Lee David; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; one brother, Harald Tilley; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Eugenia will be 2:00 PM Saturday, May 19th, 2018 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas. Visitation will be 6:00 till 8:00 PM Friday, May 18th, in the chapel. So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the words spoken at Revelation 21:3,4 “With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them.
And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away".
