Eugene Roy Horton, age 83 of Conway, Arkansas passed from this life on Friday, May 11th, 2018 at UAMS in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born in Zack, Arkansas on August 4th, 1934 to Roy Horton and Alice Williams Horton.
Eugene was a businessman who owned Gene's Auto Parts and later Horton Tomato. In 1972 Eugene lost the true love of his life, June West Horton. Her death left him a widower with three children. His strong, kind, giving nature enabled him to meet this task head-on. He was always willing to lend a hand and help anyone in need. He was known as ''Papa Gene'' to all his grandchildren. Eugene would put all his change in a jar throughout the year and at Christmas each grandchild would guess how much was in the jar. Whoever got the closest would win the money. The grandkids loved this and Eugene got a kick out of the competition each year. He loved holidays and playing cards and dominos with the kids. He was known as ''Chief'' to his nephews and liked to joke and tease with them. Spending time with his family was one of Eugene's greatest enjoyments.
Survivors include three children, Tommy Eugene Horton and wife Edna, Diane Horton Williams and husband Dale and Teresa June Horton; grandchildren, Brandon (Tanna) Horton, Dustin (Mariana) Horton, Nick (Leslie) Williams, Candace Williams (Nathan) Wilson, Sarah Williams (Aaron) Parsley, Teslie Horn (Derek) Russell and Shane (Tessa) Horn; fifteen great-grandchildren and two more on the way; brothers, Eutaw (Wilma) Horton, Willis Dale (Glenda) Horton and Leon (Violet) Horton; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Sanders.
Eugene is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Alice Horton; his beloved wife, June West Horton; granddaughter, Brittany Ann Horton; brother, TJ Horton and his wife Geneva; and one sister, Kathleen Sanders.
Funeral services for Eugene will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 14th, 2018 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Don Campbell officiating. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM preceding the service. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dustin Horton, Brandon Horton, Nick Williams, Gus Miller, Aaron Parsley, Nate Wilson and Derek Russell. Honorary pallbearer will be Shane Horn.
