Melvin Evans, age 83 of Marshall, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 20th, 2018 at CHG Cornerstone Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born in Blanco, Arkansas on March 22nd, 1934 to Carl Evans and Mertie Ferguson Evans.
Melvin was a veteran of the United States Navy. He attended Dongola Church. Melvin worked at sale barns all over the state of Arkansas as a livestock auctioneer for fifty plus years. He was a wonderful provider for his family and loved them all dearly.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jeanette Collins Evans of the home; one son, Kenneth Evans of Snowball; one daughter, Phyllis Evans Lavigne and husband Ken of Batesville; grandchildren, Jason Bryant and wife Megan of Batesville, Ashley Mundy Brown and husband Clint of Batesville, Torri Evans of Marshall, Megan Evans of Marshall, Kelsey Lavigne of Fayetteville and Scott Lavigne of Kansas City, MO; and many other family and friends who will also mourn his passing.
Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mertie Evans; one daughter, Cynthia Ann Evans Mundy; and one sister, Velma Evans.
Arrangements are by Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas.
Graveside services for Melvin will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 24th, 2018 at Marshall Memorial Gardens with Bro. Jackie Smithson officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason Bryant, Steve Wilson, Steve Penny, Bryon Markle, Larry Evans and Clint Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be George Daniels, Dr. Charles Daniels, Dr. Scott Ferguson, Ken Lavigne, Mike Mundy and all of Melvin's many friends from the sale barn.
