Garvin Gene Reid, age 65 of Clinton, formerly of Marshall, Arkansas returned to his heavenly home on Thursday, August 11th, 2016 at Ozark Health Nursing Center in Clinton. He was born in Marshall, Arkansas on May 19th, 1951 to the late Joe Dolphus Reid and Betty Lois (Ragland) Reid.

In 1968, Garvin Gene married Betty Jo Middleton. From this union was born four beloved children. In 1993, he married the love of his life, Ila Elaine Carter and was honored with a stepson. Garvin was a great man of God, a loving husband, father, brother, and friend.

He is survived by his loving wife Ila, 5 children: son Jerry and wife Shelly, daughter Jodie, daughter Misty and husband Lance, daughter Kristy and husband Clea, and stepson Lyle Hughey, all of Northwest, Arkansas. 13 grandchildren: Amber, Quinton, Brennon, Ashlyn, Halle Grace, Chance, Zack, Amanda, Connie, Luke, Halle Nicole, Haley and Blaine. 2 great-grandchildren: Gabriella and Ainsley. 2 brothers: Jerry Reid and his wife Phyllis of Hot Springs and Donnie Reid of Jonesboro. Garvin was preceded in death by his mother and father, 5 sisters: Betty Sue, Patsy, Harvelene, Robbie, Vera Rose and 3 brothers: Bobbie Ray, RC and Billy Joe.

Funeral services for Garvin will be 10:00 AM Monday, August 15th, 2016 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Wesley Watts and Bro. Steve Jones officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Sunday, August 14th, 2016 in the Chapel. Burial will be 5:00 PM Monday, August 15th, 2016 in Highfill Cemetery located in Highfill, Arkansas.

Thank you all for your kind words thoughts and prayers for me and my family. Dad was a great man of God and I know he's in Heaven dancing with his new legs and rejoicing. If dad knew you he loved you that's the way he was. I miss him terribly but strive to make Heaven my home to be with him again. Once again thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I was so sorry to hear of Garvin Gene passing... Have not seen him in many years but heard alot about him and what an awesome man of God he became.. It's sad to see one of our many childhood friends pass away.. I pray for God's Peace to be with all his family and friends.. He is now truly one of God's Angels.. God Bless All Of You !! I am so sorry for the Reid's family loss. He was my pastor at Lowell First Freewill Baptist. He married me and my husband as well. He was a wonderful man and he was my favorite pastor.

Brother Garvin will all way's be a big part of my life. he was the one preacher that was there too be my mentor when I started preaching and the first name on my ordination. the first too let me know if I was right or wrong. and I loved him for being the men that he was. and I hope that I can be half the preacher that he was. I grew up under brother Garvins preaching at Red Oak. Saw a lot of people saved. Truly a wonderful man of God. It's comforting to know we'll see him again one day when we make Heaven our home. My condolences to the Reid family , your all in my prayers
