James Tommy Dowden, age 62 of Harriet, Arkansas passed from this life on Thursday, June 30th, 2016 at his home. He was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana on April 15th, 1954 to James Thomas Dowden and Geneva (Bynog) Dowden.

James worked for Ranger Boats for ten years and worked for Micro Plastics for five years until his retirement. He enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening. James was an avid collector of eagles.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Lee Robert Shultz; and one brother, Jeremiah Steven Dowden.

Survivors include his wife of nine years, Debra (Buratt) Dowden of the home; one son, James Robert Dowden of Bruno; step-sons, Daniel Wayne Myers of Jacksonville and Donald Jefferson Myers of Marshall; two daughters, Melissa Ann Shultz of Marshall and Joyce Marie Dowden of Bruno; granddaughter, Cheyenne Marie Dowden; step-grandchildren, Aden Christopher Myers, Reilly Elizabeth Myers and Ayslinn Lilianna Myers; sisters, Alice Dowden of Yellville and Linda Rollins of Villeplatte, LA; brothers, Donald Dowden of Yellville, David Dowden of Summit, Victor Dowden of Baldwin City, KS, Timothy Dowden of Everton and John Dowden of Rea Valley; and many other family members who will also mourn his passing.

Cremation services are by Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas. All services will be private. In lieu of flowers and at the family's request donations may be sent to James Dowden Memorial Fund, PO Box 43, Harriet, AR 72639.
