Hensley M. “Pete” McKissack, 81, of Little Rock, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 22, 2010. He was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. He dedicated 42 years of his life to military service, serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After the war he served as a civil engineer with the Air National Guard and was a mentor to many young men in the Guard. In retirement he was an active builder of homes and commercial property; avid gardener giving to the Food Bank and people in the community. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Patricia Pierson McKissack; daughter, Cindy McKissack; his parents, Aarin and Frances McKissack; and brother, Ernest McKissack.
He is survived by his wife, Merry Lue Wortman McKissack; daughters and their husbands, Marilyn and Chris Cutter of Conway; Kim and Tommy Mitchell of Conway; stepdaughters and their husbands, Patty and Bo Griffin; Janice and Terry Womack; brothers, Louie McKisssack and Jerry McKissack all of Little Rock; 13 grandchildren; six great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 26, 2010 at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend David Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, AR 72209 (501) 455-5800.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or Kingsland Cemetery at Kingsland, Arkansas.
