Mary Nell Venable Cohrt

Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 7:55 a.m., Mary Nell Venable Cohrt of Alexander, Arkansas lost her nine year battle with breast cancer. Mary was born February 5, 1941 in Reydel, Arkansas to the late Joseph Ward Venable, Sr. and Adeline Kochel Venable.

Having been an excellent seamstress she was known not only for the beautiful pillows she handcrafted but also for her generosity, her fun loving spirit and her devotion to Christ and her family.

She attended Mabelvale Schools and was a 1959 graduate of Mabelvale High School. She attended Mabelvale Church of Christ since childhood where she has always been an active and devoted servant for the Lord.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Bobbie Sue Venable, Paulette Harris and Linda Breeding.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, John Robert Cohrt; and their daughters, Robbye Langston of Alexander; Johna (Wayne) Lowry of Beebe and Wynell (Dennis) Defrese of Fairview, Tennessee. Grandchildren include Justin Langston, Brandon and John Finley, Hayden and Cameron Lowry, Jessica Defrese and Cohrtney (Alan) Hooper.

Surviving siblings include, Katherine (Donald) McHughes; John (Liz) Venable; Angela (Robert) Sallis; Keith (Sandy) Venable; Joseph “Bud” (Judy) Venable and Leonard Venable.

Mary asked that we not be sad in her death but that we celebrate the life she had and rejoice that she is going to a better place.

A visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. with funeral service at 12:00 noon, Friday, October 16, 2009 at Mabelvale Church of Christ, 10820 Mabelvale West Road, Mabelvale, AR 72103 with Mr. Dennis Gulledge and Dale Morris officiating. Burial to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Family will receive friends 6:00-9:00 p.m., Thursday at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, AR 72209 (501) 455-5800.
