Mr. Gene C. Grossman, age 90 of Mountain Home passed away Sunday, December 26, 2016 at Mountain Home. He was born May 22, 1926 in Millstadt, Illinois to Eugene and Adelia (Probst) Grossman. He completed High School in Belleville, Illinois and was soon drafted and took basic training at Ft. Walters, Texas. He was with the 77th Infantry due to land off Okinawa, March 29, 1945. After the bomb was dropped he went to the Philippines and waited for the Invasion. He spent the rest of his time in Japan and joining the 11th Air Borne.

After returning home he attended Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. There he met his future wife and they were married June 7, 1948. Gene re-enlisted in the Army and spent 34 years traveling and world; Germany, Korea, Indonesia, Dominic Republic, Kahul, Afgahanistan and Vietnam. His last four years were in Hawaii.

After his military career and all his travels, he and Dorothy chose Mountain Home as their final home.

Gene suffered from many medical conditions connected to Agent Orange. However, he loved the military and was a life member of the American Legion, VFW, Masonic Lodge and Three War Association.

Mr. Grossman is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Grossman and two sisters, Janet and Joan. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Memorial Graveside will be Wednesday, January 4, 2016 at 2:00PM in Baxter Memorial Gardens.
