June Ruth (Jeffery) Woods

of Mountain Home, AR

December 4, 1927 - March 31, 2010

June Ruth (Jeffery) Woods, age 82, of Mountain Home passed away Wednesday night at Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice house. She was born in Sturgis South Dakota, December 4, 1927 to James Jewitt Jeffery and Ruth Louise (Roberts) Jeffery. Following the death of her father the family moved to Arkansas during the dust bowl years. She grew up in what is now the Hand Cove/Woods Point area. She graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1946. Following graduation she taught in one room rural schools in Advance and Lone Rock Arkansas. She married Lloyd Morrell Woods in 1947 and had 3 children: Morrell Juitt Woods, Pamela June Woods, and Iva Louise Woods. Following Lloyd's death in 1954 she moved to California to pursue a teaching degree. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Education from California State University at Long Beach and returned to the family farm in Lone Rock in 1964. She taught in the Norfork and West Plains area for several years, eventually becoming a Social Worker for the State of Missouri until her retirement. She loved the academic environment and continued her education earning a Master's Degree in Education from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. She instilled the respect and value of education/knowledge in her children and her siblings. She was the cohesive force for a family that is scattered all over the country.

She is predeceased by husband, Lloyd Morrell Woods, son, Morrell Juitt Woods, parents James Jeffery and Ruth (Roberts Jeffery) Taylor, stepfather LeRoy Taylor, sister, Louise Davidson and brothers, Jackie Taylor and Leslie (Jim) Jeffery.

She is survived by daughters Pamela June (Woods) Harris of Henderson, Arkansas, Iva Louise (Woods) Lackovic of Springfield, Missouri, siblings, Joe Taylor (New Jersey) Jerry Taylor (North Carolina), Ronnie Taylor (Arkansas) and John Taylor (Arkansas). She had four grandchildren; Shannon (Harris) Isaacson, Kendra Woods, Ty Girdley, Levi Woods, John Lackovic and 4 great-grandchildren: Dylan, Kinley, Baxter, and Parker that she loved dearly. Our loss is incalculable; the gifts she gave us are immeasurable. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Hospice of the Ozarks or Burnt Schoolhouse Cemetery. A memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 3 at Roller Funeral Home with Jerry Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Burnt Schoolhouse Cemetery.

Our prayers and thoughts will be with you tomorrow. Your Mom was a great lady and sister. We will miss her, our phone calls and laughs , political views and her late nights with Charlie Rose. No matter what we were talking about , when it was time for Charlie Rose we had to hang up. She would call me back and she would give me the Charlie Rose show in detail. June will be missed but never forgotten.

My condolences to June's family. I graduated with her in 1946 and remember her with fondness. She certainly had an interesting and productive life. Her
influence on her students must have given her great satisfaction and her family will be envied by many of her co-graduates. God Bless Her!
