John Jenkins Barksdale, 85, of Jonesboro, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born May 1, 1933 in Knobel, AR to Homer and Opal May Jenkins Barksdale. He was U.S. Air Force MSGT retired. He also retired from FMC where he worked as the Quality Control Manager. Mr. Barksdale was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church where he was active on the committee to build the church. He loved to fish, photograph wildflower scenes, and leather work.

Mr. Barksdale is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Iva Hart and Norma Lack.

Survivors include his wife, Rosa Lorenz Barksdale; two sons, Kenneth (Nancy) Barksdale and Kevin Barksdale; two daughters, Anita Keller and Linda (Scott) Spurlock; six grandchildren, Alan Keller, Eric Keller, Amanda Spurlock, Brian Spurlock, Austin Barksdale and Kyle Barksdale; two great grandchildren, Katie Keller and Ryan Keller; and a sister, Georgia Hill.

Chapel services will begin at 2 pm Friday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will precede the services beginning at 1 pm.

Mr. Barksdale's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
