Lorene Brooks, 95 of Jonesboro, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016. She was born June 4, 1921 In Muskogee, OK. to Mansel and Della (Harris) Forbus.
Mrs. Brooks retired from Frolic Footwear, Glass Factory and owned Brooks Grocery Store here in town. She was married to the late C. J. Brooks and was a member of the Brookland Baptist Church. Mrs. Brooks loved helping others and would help anyone in need.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, C. J. Brooks; sons, Jim Brooks, Jessie Ray Brooks and Jerry Brooks; daughter, Joyce Cline; sisters, Ruth Stice, Mary Henry, Francis Bradley Lois Grant and Pauline Baugh; brothers, Robert Forbus, James Forbus and Mansel Forbus Jr.
Survivors include, daughters, Vickie Meilke and Shirley Jones; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren and several great great great grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, September 2, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home Chapel with Melvin York officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Walcott.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
