Irma Lou Brown

of Jonesboro, AR

May 29, 1922 - June 2, 2016

Irma Lou Brown, age 94, passed away on June 2, 2016, in Jonesboro, AR. She was the widow of Eddie P Brown. They shared 28 years of loving, adventurous and joyful marriage together.

Irma was born May 29, 1922, in Evening Shade, Arkansas, to the late Charles and Etta Griffin. Over her lifetime, she lived in Washington, California, Missouri and, ultimately came back to her home state of Arkansas.

Irma was a member of Jonesboro First Assembly of God, where she faithfully attended and enjoyed the many activities and friendships in her Sunday School class, also known as the Silver Saints. Irma was actively involved in the Senior Center, where she would go 2-3 times a week to play cards with her many friends. Years ago she loved to ''flip'' houses and her green thumb allowed her to enjoy her beautiful flowers and plants. She will always be remembered for her quick wit, charming personality, sweet spirit, and of course, her chocolate gravy! She never knew a stranger and was a true friend to all.

Irma was blessed with a very loving and close-knit family. She is survived by two of her children, Jimmy Kissinger (Peggy) and Linda Counce (Joe). Sue Patterson, her second child, preceded her in death in 1993. She was proud of her 4 grandchildren who only knew her as ''Mamma'' - Joe Patterson (Carole), Lance Kissinger (Claudia), Becky Stutzman (Russ) and Gina Taylor (Jeff). She has 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons. Her legacy of devotion to her family and firm belief in God will live on through her family that she loved so much.

The visitation will be held on at Roller-Farmer's Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro on Sunday from 5-7 pm. Irma will be buried at Greenlawn Cemetery in Springfield, MO., where a family graveside ceremony will begin at 2 pm on Monday.

Linda and family, I am sorry to hear of your loss, but it is Heaven's gain. I look forward to seeing Irma again. We shared many sweet memories together. I want to commend all of your family for your loving support of Irma. I will be praying for all of you as you go through this time of sorrow Paul said that we do not sorrow as those who have no hope. (Paraphrased) We will see her again.
Love you,
