Jewel Lawrence, 89, of Jonesboro, died at Ridgecrest Nursing Home on April 13, 2016. She was born November 22, 1926 to the late D.L. and Myrtle (Gay) Spurlock.

Preceding her in death were her ex-husband, Gene; a son, Aubrey ''Herbie''; twin infant brothers; infant sisters, Vercilla and Patricia; sisters, Dicy Brown and Thelma Hager; and a brother, Aubrey ''Jack'' Spurlock.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Paul) Sherman; her son, Donald ''Teko'' Lawrence; granddaughter, Sherri (Blair) Cornell; twin granddaughters, Kenna and Lilly Cornell; sisters, Vitta Maxwell and Dorris (R.D.) Lemons; a host of nieces and nephews; and neighborhood family friends, the Grimes.

Jewel was a faithful member of the Church of Christ at Brookland. She was a retired LPN and had worked many years at St. Bernards Hospital. She had also worked at Baptist East in Memphis as well at many nursing homes. She left her job in Florida and came back to take care of her mother for the last 6 years of her mother's life. She was ''the rock'' on which each of her family depended.

Funeral services will be 1 pm Saturday at the Brookland Church of Christ, with Gary Hill and Brett Foster officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Log Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 11 am until time of service.

Winston Brown, Kurt Brown, Logan McLaughlin, Todd McLaughlin, Jay Shaw and Steve Shaw will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Mrs. Lawrence's memory to either the Paragould Childrens Home, 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, AR 72450 or to the Brookland Church of Christ, 9664 Hwy 49B, Brookland, AR 72417.
