May 25, 1923 - September 5, 2015

Sibyl M. Smith, 92, of Jonesboro, passed away Saturday at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. Sibyl was born May 25, 1923, in Powhatan, to Charlie and Gladys Hurst Clark. She loved to fish, garden and read.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 44 years, Robert Dawson; parents, Charlie and Gladys Clark; four daughters, Gloria Walker, Delores Stokes, Marilyn Clark and Sharon DeMahy and one son, Michael Dawson.

She is survived by six sons, Richard Dawson of Seattle; Butch (Virginia) of Biloxi, MS; Larry (Barbara) Dawson of Colorado Springs; Chuck Dawson of Jonesboro; Ken (Lori) Dawson of Auburn, MA and Keith Dawson of Jonesboro; one daughter, Linda (Jackie) James of Jonesboro; twenty one grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; two brothers, Dale Clark of Oregon and Frank Clark of California; one sister, Nina Peeler of Jonesboro.

There will be a chapel service Wednesday at 1:00pm at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home with Freddy Bowen officiating. Burial will follow at Keller's Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers include Scott James, Tim Dawson, C.J. LeBlanc, Steven Prudhomme, Grant Prudhomme and Jackie James. Visitation will be at the funeral home prior to the service from 11:30am until 1:00pm.
