James ''Jay'' Wayne Prater, 89, of Jonesboro passed away Saturday at Jonesboro Healthcare. He was born April 26, 1926 in Noland to Ollie and Hattie Donoho Prater. He was retired from the United States Army and General Electric. He enjoyed making turkey calls, fishing and hunting. Mr. Prater was of the Baptist belief.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Hattie Prater; his wife, Vonnie Prater; and a sister, Betty Lea.

Survivors include three sisters Gina Riccio of St. Louis, MO, Beth Cansler of Searcy and Louise Blevins of Walnut Ridge; and three brothers Wallace (Beatrice) Barber, Bethel Barber and Roy (Sue) Barber, all of Jonesboro..

Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, May 27 at Pine Log Cemetery with Bro. Bryan Exum officiating.

Visitation will be 10:30-11:00 Wednesday at Pine Log Cemetery.

The family requests that lasting memorials be made to Dierksen Hospice, 4615 E Johnson Ave, Jonesboro, AR 72401.
