Opal Louise Woodruff Ward, 92, of Trumann, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at her home. She was born March 1, 1922 in Lepanto. Opal received a Bachelor's Degree in college and was a teacher for 30 years, retiring from the Marion School System. She was of the Methodist faith. Opal loved to cook for all the family and loved to fish.
Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her husband Captain Morris Ward; her parents, Charley Woodruff Sr. and Irene Stapels Woodruff; five sisters, Hazel Woodruff, Thelma Campbell, Cora Lee Wimpy, Ruby Goforth and Mary Abee; two brothers, John Woodruff and Lawrence Woodruff; and an infant brother and sister.
Survivors include two brothers, Charley (Dot) Woodruff Jr. and Wilford Woodruff; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10 am -12 pm Saturday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro.
Graveside services will begin at 1 pm at the Potter's Cemetery in Lepanto with Larry Loggins officiating.
